This too, retro styling is getting played out. Why? Because Ford, that's why. They started this retro muscle car thing, a decade ago, with the 2005 Mustang, and they are putting an end to it.

Please leave the Challenger alone, she's a hefty girl but she looks good.

The Camaro is way overdue for an update. However, the challenger is one of the best looking domestic market cars currently produced.

It's days are numbered, this is what Ralph Gilles said after seeing the new Mustang:

I like the new Stang just aggressive enough, it's gracefully transcending back to more of a sports car than muscle car. Great proportions

This comes straight from his Twitter account, posted on December 6,

The retro muscle car thing, I meant.

And yeah, Ford missed a chance to have a great Corvette rival, when it chosen to make the Thunderbird, a retro styled, beige hairdresser's car, instead of a modern sports car.

I actually kinda like that Thunderbird. But yea, it is a shame the missed the boat on performance though. Would have been interesting to see it evolve too.

This. I tend to pick Challenger in all of the 'which one of the modern muscle-car trio would you pick' just because of its looks.

Hell, the same can probably be said of the original Challenger as well (although the AMX and Firebird are very close).

As a young 20 something, I disagree with you. I like the new mustang, but if I picked on looks along I'd go with the Challenger, Camaro, Stang (in that order). Getting rid of the retro means that these cars will look like every other modern sports car on the market- and I don't want that.

As a 20 something, current 'Stang owner, and MOPAR enthusiast, the reverse order for me.

The Challenger is just awkward in any but the absolute highest trims.

I agree with him. He's a great designer and has good taste in cars, even ones from competitors.

For a road trip car, I would take the Chally hands down over the other two (minus maybe the GT500. But only because 662 HP). It's the biggest, the most comfortable, and if you have to cross Nevada in as little time as possible it will do great.
